Spring is a great time to visit Muskoka
Once the snow of winter has melted away, attention turns to the wonders of spring. Animals are always most active in May and June. Birdwatchers love this time of year, there is less foliage on the trees and the birds are busy building nests and finding mates. We are always on the look out for this year’s new loon chicks. Visits to Algonquin Park can be most rewarding in May, as this is a great time of year to spot moose along the highway. Here at the lodge, you can enjoy canoeing, hiking, relaxing on the dock, reading by the fire and more. May and early June bring our lowest rates of the year, and it’s a good time to visit Muskoka before the busy summer tourist vacation season starts.
Fall brings cool nights and spectacular Muskoka colours
Crisp morning walks down our country road are popular, as well as catching up with a good book on the dock in the warm afternoon sun on Peninsula Lake. The fall colours are beautiful where ever you look, and can be especially so reflected off the still morning and evening lake. Many guests will choose to take a packed lunch and head out to Algonquin Park to try one of their many hiking trails, or a leisurely drive to view the magnificent fall colours. A pre-dinner canoe ride can be the perfect way to end another glorious day at our lakeside log cabin resort.

A Warm & Welcome Muskoka Tradition
“Spent two peaceful nights at Cedar Grove in June and was amazed how much of its charm the lodge has retained since the last time I was there as a child in 1968. Swam in the lake. Took out the canoe. Sat on the dock. Ate wonderful meals. All in a peaceful setting that brought back memories of the childhood summers spent here with my family. To top it off, our waitress from those days long ago, Bonnie, still worked in the restaurant!! How about that for continuity. My only regret is that I live too far away to make this a regular thing. But, hopefully, I’ll be back again one day and it won’t take me 49 years.”~ Tom P. ~
