Spring is a great time to visit Muskoka

Once the snow of winter has melted away, attention turns to the wonders of spring. Animals are always most active in May and June. Birdwatchers love this time of year as there is less foliage on the trees and the birds are busy building nests and finding mates. We are always on the look out for this year’s new loon chicks and deer fawns. Visits to Algonquin Park can be most rewarding in May, as this is a great time of year to spot moose along the highway. Here at the lodge, you can enjoy canoeing, relaxing on the dock, reading by the fire and more. May and early June bring our lowest rates of the year, and it’s a good time to visit Muskoka before the busy summer tourist season starts.

Fall brings cool nights and spectacular Muskoka colours

Crisp morning walks down our country road are popular, as well as catching up with a good book on the dock in the warm afternoon sun on Peninsula Lake. The fall colours are beautiful where ever you look, and can be especially so reflected off the still morning and evening lake.  Many guests will choose to head out to Algonquin Park or Arrowhead Park to try one of their many hiking trails, or a leisurely drive to view the magnificent fall colours. A pre-dinner canoe ride can be the perfect way to end another glorious day at our lakeside log cottage resort.

A Warm & Welcome Muskoka Tradition

“What more can I say about Cedar Grove and the staff? Been coming since 1998 due to our dogs feeling welcome here. Cedar Grove Lodge, a paradise to heal, mentally and physically. Cedar Grove changes with the times but never changes too rapidly. The old traditions are so evident here.”
